On Saturday afternoon I found myself making loops on my motorcycle all around our neighborhood. No, I wasn’t lost! My kids were taking turns riding with me. It was kind of cool because they all have different styles of riding. For example, Kadyn likes to go fast. Addi likes to wave at every person we pass. Kai likes to try and make the same sounds the cycle is making. All of them crack me up.
Anyway, it made me start thinking about what I really like to do in the summer. So, here’s my list of 8 favorite summer activities (not necessarily in order).
1. Going to the lake — skiing, fishing, tubing, and just simply relaxing
2. Going on walks with the family — There’s just something about walking with Molly as our kids are riding their bikes.
3. Grilling out — In my humble, opinion there’s no better way to cook than over an open flame (BTW: If you use a gas grill it’s just not the same — don’t even pretend that it is).
4. Mowing — I use to hate it as a kid, but I love it now. Throw on the ipod and get to work. It’s like my own little getaway.
5. Golfing — Duh!
6. Sitting on the porch and watching people — It’s like a “Mayberry” moment thing, but who doesn’t need a little more Opie time in their life.
7. Riding the motorcycle — Great thing to do early in the morning or late in the evening. It’s best when Molly can come along.
8. Running — Lately it hasn’t been that much fun because the air has been so thick with humidity it’s like trying to breathe water.
There it is. That’s what I like to do. By the way, I also rank the seasons in the following order (best to worst): Summer, Fall, Spring, Winter.
What do you like to do? How would you rank the seasons?

Hi JP, I will get to my favorites later, but for now, your number 3? I used to think that way too, when I was young and inexperienced. I have grown up since then and have learned better. You will too in time, (we hope), just give it time. :-) (running for cover) LOL
Seriously, I too believe Cooking over charcoal is tastier, but at the same time, I do get great flavor cooking over gas. Just all depends on how you do it, and naturally you have to get the grill good and seasoned. We may have to have a cookoff at the church some day. Get a bunch of grill heads together and have a contest! :-)

I don’t know if I can come up with 10, but here are a few:
1) Watching Rick & the kids play in the pool, especially when Rick launches Matthew really high into the air.
2) Family bike rides
3) Growing vegetables – until they were all eaten by some unknown animal despite the wire fencing
4) Going to farmers’ markets
5) Seeing summer dresses on little girls!
Season ranking: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter
(BTW, that song is now running through my head & probably will be for the rest of the day!)

Well, I love the outdoors and I would have a hard time rating the seasons. I mean, how could I say that Fall is better than Spring when Spring has turkey hunting and crappie fishing, but Fall has dove and grouse hunting? How could I say Winter is better than Summer when summer has smallmouth Bass fishing at the river, but Winter has sledding, sliding, snowman building, and hot chocolate? I am most happy whenever the weather or situation allows for wearing my baseball cap, hooded zip-up sweatshirt, and old worn-in jeans.
I would definitely agree with the first three on your list, although it would be nicer if there were a few more lakes around here. Walks are great too. Last night we hit the grocery store with the Radio Flyer and two kiddie strollers and stopped at the park on the way home with the groceries. I like number six too, but abhor eight. Of course, the real question is why golf when you can fish?

Randy, cause it is a lot easier to chase down a little white ball. Well, usually. :-)

Well, if you are like me, you will probably spend the same amount of time in the water if you are fishing or golfing…

Yeah, same here and still not catch anything but wet feet and a sunburn.
These are the things I like to do, in no particular order:
1. Motorcycle rides with Becky
2. Walking
3. Traveling anywhere
4. playing games of any kind with friends
5. Bicycling
6. Grilling out – I’m lame, I use gas. :-)
7. Watching a great movie with my wife, snuggled up in a warm blanket with the fireplace going, and popcorn!
My seasons in order would have to be Spring, Fall, Summer, and Winter. Spring just makes me feel new and alive. Fall is just awash with color and is so vibrant. Summer is nice, but sometimes so hot, it makes me want to do nothing. Winter is just too cold, unless I am skiing or sledding of course. :-)
