All right, so I use to love to golf. Well, actually I still love to golf, but I don’t have nearly enough time to give to it. So, one of the fun “hobbies” Molly and I enjoy together is going out to eat. We love it. So, here’s my 3 lists of great restaurants in C-U.
3 Great Breakfast Locations (not in any order):
- The Original Pancake House (My kids love this place . . . it’s their top request.)
- Jim Gould’s (I think they have the best pancakes in town. You have to try them.)
- Le Peep (I’m a sucker for the “Desperado”.)
3 Great Lunch Locations (not in any order):
- Billy Barooz (So convenient to the church building. Make sure you get the nachos!)
- Dos Reales (I could eat Mexican food 3 times a day.)
- Guido’s (Great burgers)
3 Great Dinner Spots (not in any order):
- Alexander’s (Go with friends. Seat your lady at the table. Get your boys and head to the grill!)
- Flat Top Grill (It’s on campus so be strategic when you go.)
- The Great Impasta (I love it. Go with the Mardi Gras Pasta and make it spicy!)

Better get on Great Impasta soon, I heard that they may be closing. Are you not a Texas Roadhouse fan, or just not enough for the top 3?

Man, I just can’t do three. Some of my favorites I love for both lunch AND dinner. I will just list some of my favorites. Your breakfast group I would agree with whole heartedly.
1. Spice Box – Second floor of Bevier Hall
2. Seven Saints – Gotta do the Tomato Bisque and some sliders
3. Real Hacienda – Awesome Chili Relleno
4. Penn Station – pricy but best subs AND fry’s in town
5. Chili’s – Mushroom Jack Fajita’s – YUM
6. Rainbow Garden – Moo Shu Pork
7. My house for Steak – no one grills a better steak than myself. :-)
I will give Great Impasta a try. I have never eaten there and the Mardi Gras Pasta does look good. Can’t go wrong with andouille.
BTW, give http://www.eatcu.com a try. You can look at menus for virtually all restaurants in the CU area.

Hi JP, Becky and I took your advice and went to the Great Impasta. I had the Mardi Gras pasta but did NOT make it spicy. I was on my way to a musical and did not want to find myself in a bad situation, so I kept it tame. :-) It was quite good. I have no idea why they wish to close. It seemed to be doing a good business, but then it was a Friday evening. I would think a remodel to brighten things up a bit, as it was a tad dark in both lighting and look, but other than that the food was excellent. We also had the stuffed mushrooms and I would love to learn to make those at home. Anyway, thanks for the tip!
